In 2001, Steve Jobs introduced the original iPod. A revolutionary device to listen to digital music on-the-go. Entire collections of music and albums available at your fingertips carried around in your pocket. Or if you were really cool, tucked in an arm band while you were jogging. White ear buds hanging from your ears became the new fashion accessory.
But there’s something else about the introduction of that extraordinary device that many people have overlooked.
It also introduced a whole new media called Podcasting. What used to be traditional radio broadcasting, was now being “broadcast” over the iPod. Hence the term–Podcasting. It’s one of those perfect branding examples where the name has become so common that it’s part of everyday language. Like, “I’m going to grab a Starbucks.” “After I clean my ears with a Q-Tip.” You get the idea.
The rise in popularity of podcasting has been extraordinary. I have to admit, when someone on my team mentioned I should start a podcast two years ago I thought he was crazy. A year later, I could see that podcasting was an emerging trend. As we come upon the one year anniversary next month of my podcast, Creative Warriors, I’m so grateful I jumped on board. And this is just the beginning. Even Spotify announced last week that later this summer they will start streaming podcasts. Incredible.
The #1 reason we will continue to see podcasting rising in popularity is cars. Cars are going online making listening to podcasts that much easier. While most cars today have the ability to play smartphone audio through Bluetooth or USB connections, the prediction is that 50 percent of all cars sold in 2015 will be internet connected, and 100 percent by 2025. Making it that much easier to consume all the content out there.
Even still, none of this would really matter if it weren’t for one other big reason. People want to listen. As a society, we are sponges for entertainment and information. We can’t seem to get enough. To me, this is the most remarkable thing about the time we’re living in and how podcasting plays an important role. There is practically an UNLIMITED amount of FREE information available to you at anytime, anywhere. Think about how incredible that is. It’s so easy to take the benefit of that for granted. Just as we’ve forgotten the root of this thing called podcasting comes from a little device introduced in 2001.
My show, Creative Warriors is looking to play as big a role as possible in the future by providing the most valuable information for our specific avatar–small business owners who are marketing themselves and their talent. If you’re a photographer, coach, designer, event planner, marketer, consultant….if what you have to offer the world is your talent or skill, then Creative Warriors is for you. Why have I chosen to serve this specific audience? Because I know the unique challenges and needs of these entrepreneurs because I’ve been one for 30+ years. And there’s a complete lack of good information for creative thinkers like us. When YOU are your brand and it’s your TALENT that you’re selling, it takes a whole different way of being in business.
I personally select each and every guest. My goal is to inspire, motivate and educate while at the same time provide practical action steps for your business.
So there’s some big news I want to share about Creative Warriors! We will soon be broadcasting TWICE a week instead of the current once a week. Once Creative Warriors appeared in New and Noteworthy in iTunes and our popularity grew, we received a flood of requests from people wanting to be guests. We now have a 5 month backlog of amazing interviews ready for you to hear. By broadcasting twice a week we can get more amazing content to you quicker.
You’re going to be hearing from big names in the online world such as Chris Brogan and Ann Handley, authors Dorie Clark who wrote “Stand Out” and Hal Elrod of “Miracle Morning” fame and entrepreneurs like Cole Hatter and Dale Partridge. You’re not going to want to miss a single one!
My strong suggestion is that you subscribe to Creative Warriors in iTunes so you don’t miss any episodes. We’ll still be sending out an email once a week announcing both episodes for that week. But wouldn’t it be nice to have it automatically downloaded to your iTunes so you don’t have to think about it? It’s simple to do:
CLICK THE IMAGE BELOW TO SUBSCRIBE IN iTunes. At the next window, click on View in iTunes under the Creative Warriors logo. That will open it up in iTunes and then you simply hit Subscribe. Super simple and you never have to think about it again.
The other way to subscribe is to download the iTunes Podcast App for iPhone and iPad. CLICK THE IMAGE BELOW . Then search for Creative Warriors and subscribe.
Creative Warriors is also on Stitcher.
By subscribing you’ll build an awesome library of content specifically for you that is ready when you want it. I hear from our loyal listeners that they often feel they can’t keep up. By subscribing you won’t have to keep up. It will be there in iTunes when you’re ready to listen.
How fantastic is it we can stay connected if not in person, but through this technology called podcasting? I look forward to bringing you the best of the best and welcome your feedback. If there’s someone you’d like me to have on Creative Warriors just let me know.
Create, serve, and be prosperous,
Jeff
