Why Me? Why is this unplanned uncomfortable thing happening? I don’t think I’ve ever met a person who at one time or another has not had that thought or stayed in that mental space a little longer than they wanted to. Every once in a while you meet someone who is not only inspiring and motivating but also has an infectious positive attitude as demonstrated by author Cornell Thomas.
I had the pleasure of speaking with Cornell Thomas, author, coach and professional athlete. Cornell went from “why me?” to “what now?” and not only dramatically changed his life by “The Power of Positivity”, but in the process found his purpose.
He thought his purpose in life was to play professional basketball. In 2003 Cornell received a contract to play professional basketball in Portugal. A dream he had since he was 16. Two weeks before he was supposed to leave he suffered a career ending injury.
Cornell’s injury helped him find his true purpose in life, which is helping and motivating others. He was sickened by all of the negativity he was seeing online. So he start writing motivational quotes on his social media accounts. The quotes eventually led to writing a blog, and the blog led to his first book “The Power Of Positivity-Controlling Where The Ball Bounces.” He has recently released his second book “The Power Of Me-Army of 1.”
Armed with his purpose to inspire and motivate others, Cornell now speaks all over the country sharing his story with people from all walks of life. Daring others to say “What Now?” instead of “Why Me?” in the face of adversity. One of his many goals is to help others believe in the most important person in their lives– themselves.
