I am exactly 2 years from the age my father was when he died the day of my wedding.
He was 52 years and 7 months. It was 29 years ago. Both my older brothers have crossed this cusp with a great deal of trepidation. My mother was visiting my oldest brother for his 52nd birthday when he somewhat proudly proclaimed that he had made it to the age dad was when he died. My mother innocently said,”well, actually it was 7 months after his 52nd birthday”. Seven months of more worrying for my brother.
When a parent dies at a relatively young age it’s like a pending expiration date on your own life.
So why am I sharing all this? Believe me, I’ve worked through so much trauma about this situation, it’s not because it’s cathartic. I’m sharing because I believe something I’m experiencing, as well as countless others, is part of a bigger shift in the world.
What I sense happening right now is URGENCY. I know I feel it very powerfully. I thought it was because I was running out of time with this looming expiration date on my life because of my father’s early demise. Except I’m seeing and hearing urgency from many people. I was with a group of leaders some time ago and this topic of urgency came up. A highly accomplished woman in the group spoke up and said,”I feel like the world is going to hell in a hand-basket and I’m afraid I’m running out of time to fix it”. I responded by saying,”That’s funny. I feel the complete opposite. I feel like this might be the best time ever to be alive and I’m afraid of running out of time to be a part of it.”
What I’m afraid of running out of time to be a part of is what I call The New Renaissance. The needs of the world have changed and I REALLY love who I think is best suited to address those needs– Creative Entrepreneurs. Like the Renaissance of a foregone era, these are the individuals who are driven to transform lives, create beauty and leave the world a better place. And get paid handsomely for doing it! In the 1400’s that was artists/scientists like Michelangelo and da Vinci.
Today, that translates into photographers, artists, coaches, marketers, branding experts and the like. A creative entrepreneur is anyone making a business of a talent or a something that is deeply meaningful to them.
Let’s look at how the marketplace has changed to prove that the world wants people like us NOW more than ever:
- People want experiences more than “things”. We creative entrepreneurs, create amazing experiences.
- No one wants to be “sold” to anymore. It scares them off. They want to be “moved”. As marketers we are “moving” people from where they are into what we can provide for them. As creative entrepreneurs we are in emotionally moving businesses. Moving people is easy for us.
- Consumers are far more likely to do business with people they trust and can build relationship with. We, creative, sensitive, types are awesome at building relationships.
- In his book, “Tribes”, author Seth Godin says, “Consumers have decided to spend time and money on stories, things that matter, and on things they believe in”. Exactly what creative entrepreneurs offer.
Do you see now why I think this may be the best time ever to be a creative entrepreneur? Creating businesses with the spirit of a warrior, doing what is meaningful to us and of value for others? HOWEVER, what if it doesn’t feel that way to you. What if you’re not seeing the results you’d like. If you love what you’re doing but not making enough money. Or are making lots of money but not happy. If there’s a gap between what you believe you’re capable of and your reality, I have a very good idea I know why.
There’s conflict between how the rest of the world thinks and how WE think. There’s conflict between how business used to work and how it works today. There’s conflict between what you THINK you’re capable of and what you KNOW you’re really capable of.
I know this because I have lived, observed and resolved more internal conflict than you can imagine. Father dying on your wedding day? Mixed emotions and conflict to say the least.
So here’s the action I’m taking from this place of urgency I’m feeling. Hoping that I don’t run out of time to help the masses of creative warriors to take advantage of this rare opportunity to be in business in service of what the world is asking for.
I have organized what I believe are the 7 core conflicts creative entrepreneurs MUST resolve in order to be financially successful and personally fulfilled. After years of coaching individuals on this work, I’ve now systemized it into a 7 step process. With instruction and support, it’s amazing how quickly an entrepreneur can go from feeling held down to unleashed. Just 7 weeks to freedom.
I’ve organized the system into a brand new coaching program called The Creative Warrior Unleashed– a 7 week program to overcome the 7 core conflicts that stop creative entrepreneurs in their tracks.
The program begins in January but I am hosting a FREE webinar October 29th at 1pm Eastern time. Join us! It will be awesome.
I’m going to describe each of the 7 conflicts in great detail. You will be amazed at how often you recognize yourself! Like so many others, you’ll say, “oh, that’s what’s going on!”. I really want you to get this valuable information. It’s FREE.
And you get a really cool INFOGRAPHIC about The Path of the Creative Warrior just for registering.
Think of it as a map on the journey to freedom and living unleashed!
