I don’t think positive thinking works. That might sound uncharacteristically negative but the truth is positive thinking and “fake it until you make it” are a weak foundation in life. Positive thinking can be a PART of the process but on it’s own it’s a disaster waiting to happen. I’ve always loved the scene in the movie American Beauty when the one-too-many-motivational videos realtor mom is showing a house with a big smile on her face. When her client leaves she swings the draperies closed and collapses because her “American Beauty” was crashing down.
Positive thinking can’t be used as an excuse for inaction. What builds a solid foundation is being POSITIVE you are taking the right action towards your vision. Setting a clear intention, with an openness to receive and right action is something you can count on. At the end of the day, if what you intended didn’t work out but you are POSITIVE you took the right actions you can’t really feel bad about it. Hopefully what remains is the strength to try again.
